About Local Weather News Network

Local Weather News Network (LWNN) provides local weather coverage for smaller markets and news deserts, communities without a local meteorologist. LWNN runs free local weather channels for underserved cities, supplies weather content to community newsrooms and news platforms, and builds custom weather data and video for nonprofits and government agencies.

About Prelay

Prelay is a weather decision service from LWNN that grades each upcoming day at each job site for the outdoor work planned there, and delivers those grades by email, webhook, scheduled report, or team portal. Learn more at prelay.lwnn.news.

Leadership

Matt Simmons

Founder and President, Local Weather News Network

Matt founded Local Weather News Network to bring local weather coverage to smaller markets and news deserts, communities that have no local meteorologist.

Before LWNN, Matt spent a decade in aerospace. At SpaceX he helped build life-critical infrastructure and founded the Site Reliability Team for Starlink, the world’s largest satellite constellation. More recently at Varda Space Industries, he continued that work in large-scale systems engineering.

He brings that experience with critical systems and scale to LWNN’s weather data infrastructure and Prelay, its weather decision service for outdoor contractors.
